SUMMER research program

national taiwan university

I spent the summer holidays of 2018 at the NTU IoX Center in Taipei, Taiwan to work on a research project surrounding the smart home.

Following the M 1.2 research semester, I got selected to take part in a six weeks research internship at the National Taiwan University in Taipei. This internship was concerned with the topic of the previous semester which was the smart home system ‘Interactive Intentional Programming’. The goal of this project was to build a functioning demonstrator of the system for presentations. To do so, a group of students from all over the world was brought together. The project was subdivided into four sections with one or two students each. This division was made according to the students’ backgrounds, these being electrical engineering, computer science and design.

My role in the project was to facilitate the runtime with hard code to simulate data and connect the instances of the project. Furthermore, I developed flowcharts to visualize and clarify the flow of data.

With the help of all group members it was eventually possible to connect an interface with a three-dimensional model of a smart home and achieve our goal.

Regarding my personal development, this internship introduced me to the area of programming in more depth and prepared me for my Final Master Project.
